Police arrest drug peddler in Kupwara | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 13 (KNO): Continuing its drive against drug menace, Police in Kupwara Friday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. “A Police party of PS Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Gonipora Haihama, arrested a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmed Khan son of Momin Khan resident of Gonipora Haihama Kupwara,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). During the search, a substantial quantity of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking, police said. Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kupwara and investigation has been initiated. Meanwhile, police appealed to people to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking and abuse—(KNO)
