Srinagar, Jun 13 (KNO): Continuing its drive against drug menace, Police in Kupwara Friday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“A Police party of PS Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Gonipora Haihama, arrested a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmed Khan son of Momin Khan resident of Gonipora Haihama Kupwara,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the search, a substantial quantity of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kupwara and investigation has been initiated.
